What is the pet food pantry?

Since 2015, the Upper Valley Humane Society has offered a Pet Food Pantry at our Adoption Center. The pantry is part of our continued mission to enhance the quality of life for people and pets in the Upper Valley and helps more than 50 families and 200 pets each month. It provides temporary assistance to people in need to help keep families intact during difficult times. We want to be able to help as many pets and their families as possible.

This program is intended to temporarily supplement your monthly supply of pet food, not be the permanent sole source of food. This program is for individuals and families only; we are unable to provide assistance to rescue groups or breeders.

Due to COVID-19, we ask that you call us to schedule a pick up time at 603-448-6888.

For even more accessibility, UVHS travels to local food pantries and the VA Hospital to hand out pet food. Mobile Pantry locations include Sunapee, Plainfield, Canaan, Sharon, and the Haven in White River Junction.

Due to COVID-19, we are currently only dropping off pet food at the following locations:

  • LISTEN Community Services in Lebanon, NH. They are open 10am-4pm Monday-Friday.
  • The Plainfield Food Pantry, which serves Plainfield, Meriden and Cornish. They will have pet food available on the 3rd Friday and Saturday of each month.
  • Friends of Mascoma, Friends Feeding Friends. Open in Enfield, NH on Tuesdays 4-6pm and Wednesday in Canaan, NH from 4-6pm. They serve Enfield, Canaan, Dorchester, Orange and Grafton.

You can find the most current dates and locations for the Mobile Pet Food Pantry on the UVHS calendar.
