Mixed Breed Dogs

Why are so many of our dogs listed as “mixed breed?”

The truth is, a very small portion of a dog’s DNA attributes to appearance, so it’s difficult to accurately identify a dog’s breed(s) just by looking at them. Without knowing the breed(s) of the parents or pedigree papers for verification, breed identification is really just a guessing game! Research has shown that this guessing game is most often inaccurate, even by professionals, and can lead to breed stereotypes and unrealistic expectations of behavior or personality.
