Adoption Process & Fees
We use a conversational approach to the adoption process to help match you with a companion animal. In other words, we do not have an application for you to fill out. Our staff members will have a discussion with you about the type of animal you’re looking for, your lifestyle, etc. in order to make the best match possible for everyone.
All available animals can be viewed right here on our website. This is the most up-to-date information as the website is connected to our animal database.
When you see an animal you are interested in, please complete our Adoption Interest Form. This is a short online form to gather some basic information. After you submit the form, one of our staff members will contact you to discuss the animal(s) you’re interested in. When it appears that you and the animal(s) of interest may be a good match, the next step will be a meet & greet at the shelter.
In many cases, you may take your new furry family member home the same day.
Dogs and cats adopted from UVHS will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, examined by our medical team and veterinarian, evaluated by our behavior coordinator (for dogs), and loved by staff members and volunteers.
