Shelter Veterinarian

The Upper Valley Humane Society (UVHS) seeks a kind and compassionate NH-licensed veterinarian to lead our Animal Health team. UVHS will build the animal medical team around your vision and availability (10 – 32 hours/week). The veterinarian is responsible for performing the traditional duties of a veterinarian, including exams, diagnosis, sterilization, and creating treatment plans. Duties focus on improvement of health and quality of life, disease control in the shelter, sterilization, and the alleviation of suffering. The successful candidate will serve as the Veterinarian of Record according to NH state regulations. Pay is commensurate with experience. Senior Veterinary Technician (Full-time)

Make a healthy difference for shelter animals! Join us for a unique opportunity to learn about shelter medicine and directly impact the lives of homeless pets. The Upper Valley Humane Society seeks an experienced, certified veterinary technician for the role of senior veterinary technician. Working under the supervision of a veterinarian, the senior veterinary technician assists with examinations and surgery, provides skilled anesthesia monitoring and emergency veterinary support, monitors animal health and wellness, preps for surgery, and manages medical inventory. The senior veterinary technician also interfaces with members of the community as needed for public spay/neuter and vaccine clinics. This position is full-time (30 – 40 hours/week) but is flexible and could be a full-time position for the right candidate. Candidates must have current veterinary technician certification and have a minimum of 3 years relevant experience including anesthesia monitoring and surgery support. Pay is commensurate with experience, $21 – 26/hour. Must be available to work on Mondays and/or Tuesdays.

UVHS needs an Animal Care Technician & Adoption Counselor who isn’t afraid to tackle the dirty work – think feeding, cleaning, and yes, even dealing with the not-so-pleasant stuff. If you can match furry friends with forever homes while keeping a sense of humor amid the fast pace, join our team. Your ability to communicate with critters and humans alike, coupled with your knack for turning poop-scooping into a heroic act, will make you one of the rockstars of our shelter. Pay is $15 an hour plus perks, and for full-time employees, other benefits. 

  • Animal care Technician with a focus in cats – Full Time (4) 10 hour shifts
  • Animal care Technician with a focus in dogs – Full Time (4) 10 hour shifts
  • Animal Care Technician with a flexible schedule – Part Time 20 hours/week, schedule will change monthly
